Go back 15 years or so and pub street was where expat and tourist nightlife merged. These days, though there are still some restaurants that cater for the confused tourists that think they should eat there, most of the drinking establishments cater for young Cambodians. Younger Cambodians are more likely to spend money than the tourists a “pub street” would attract, so it makes sense. What it’s meant has been that Pub Street has become much more of a “Club Street,” with the absurd noise level that Cambodians dig.
Just off Pub Street there are a few bars you are worth checking out if you end up in that area and wanna poke your head in somewhere that won’t break your ears. I recommend [[Ambar]], [[Picasso]], or [[Bar 43]].
