Skyview Hotel and Suites

2033 Penrose Avenue | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA | | (November, 2011)

The Skyview is a strange place. The only under USD100 per night hotel I could find in Philly the day of my stay, it is not terribly located very near the sports stadiums. The rooms are large and oddly shapped, due to the cylindrical shape of the building. The hotel is old. The elevator is slow and can be idiosyncratic (sometimes, if it doesn't want to descend, push the "open door" button, then touch the "stop" knob. The doors should close and the elevator should begin to move). The furnishings are worn, but the rooms are reasonably equipped with queen-size beds, love seats, writing desks and TVs. No fridge or microwaves. Some rooms had wifi, maybe. Not mine. I had to go down to the lobby to do my fantasy football business.

There is a "seasonable" pool (closed when I stayed there, September). There is also a sports bar (closed during my entire stay). USD80/night.
