So this is where I write about places I've been, how to get there, and what I think about them. Sometimes, when you're in a new town, guidebook reviews based on what someone told the author a couple of years ago ain't much of a help. You want to know where to find beer, noodles, a burger, whisky, or a pony now. Almost everywhere I have written about are places I have been recently (most reviews have "born-on dating" to tell you when I was there last). For many of these places I can be the local friend you wish you had, and others I am just a tourist relaying an experience. In either case, I think I can help you

Reviews of hotels and restaurants are always opinions. The question is, who's opinion do you want to put your faith in? I don't know exactly why you should believe me more than anyone else, I just think that well, I'm kinda great. If you think that an cultural anthropologist who has lived in the United States (Boston, Philadelphia, Portland, Oregon, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Madison, Wisconsin and Naples, Florida), Indonesia, China, Vietnam and Cambodia, who plays Ultimate frisbee, Australian Rules Football, darts and poker, who hates flying, loves driving, who generally pays $3-300 for hotel rooms, and can throw peanuts into his mouth using chopsticks has something to offer, this is the site for you.

As I have continued working on this site, I have realized that for everywhere I write about, I find five more I should write about. So there are a lot of "I will write about this later" placeholders.
